Laws of nature take center stage in philosophy of science and metaphysics. Nelson Goodman (1906 - 1998) was one of the most influential twentieth-century American philosophers. Goodman's philosophical interests ranged from formal logic and the philosophy of science to the philosophy of art. Giacomo (Jacopo) Zabarella (b. 1533 in Padua, d. 1589 in Padua) is considered the prime representative of Renaissance Italian Aristotelianism.
