Condemnation of 1277
from Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
(2023-12-19 12:20)
|
[Revised entry by Hans Thijssen on December 18, 2023.
Changes to: Main text, Bibliography]
On March 7, 1277, the Bishop of Paris, Stephen Tempier, prohibited the teaching of 219 philosophical and theological theses that were being discussed and disputed in the faculty of arts under his jurisdiction. Tempier's condemnation has gained great symbolic meaning in the minds of modern intellectual historians, and possibly for this reason, there is still considerable disagreement about what motivated Tempier to promulgate his prohibition, what exactly was condemned, and who the targets were. Moral Cognitivism vs. Non-Cognitivism
from Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
(2023-12-19 12:11)

[Revised entry by Mark van Roojen on December 18, 2023.
Changes to: Main text, Bibliography, embedding-problem-responses.html]

from Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
(2023-12-19 10:42)
|
[Revised entry by Henrik Lagerlund on December 18, 2023.
Changes to: Main text, Bibliography]
The notions of mental representation and intentionality are intrinsically related in contemporary philosophy of mind, since it is usually thought that a mental state has content or is about something other than itself due to its representational nature. These notions have a parallel history in medieval philosophy as well and are now well studied, at least up to Buridan (see, for example, in Knudsen 1982, Tweedale 1990, Pasnau 1997, Perler 2001, Perler 2002, King 2007, Lagerlund 2007a, Black 2010, Amerini 2011, and Klima 2015)....

Premier League: FC Liverpool verpasst Sieg gegen Manchester United
from DER SPIEGEL - Schlagzeilen
