Gomez Pereira (1500 - ?) was a Spanish physician and philosopher who is mainly known for having formulated a complete theory of animal mechanism a hundred years before Descartes. Iris Murdoch (1919 - 1999) was a prominent British philosopher of the second half of the 20th century, best known for her moral philosophy.
